One of my uncles is in jail. His name is Thomas. He has been the prodigal son of my grandmother for pretty much all of his life. All he has ever done is want money from my grandmother all of the time. He never does anything for her, and "gets mad" at her when she can't help him. She has nothing - and I mean that literally. She's in her early 70's and lives with us because she has helped him too much all of his life, and never bothered to even get a place of her own to live. She never bothered to keep a job long enough to retire or get any type of pension - she just relies on social security stuff.

Thomas is one of three children. My grandmother is my mom's mother, and I also have another Christian uncle who is Thomas' brother. All three are related siblings, basically. Thomas has always been the one who my grandmother gave everything to, yet he never did anything for her. My mom has given my grandmother Sylvia a place to stay for a very long time, and my grandmother has done nothing but turn against her in return. Her other son, my other uncle - he has helped my grandmother so much. She also has constantly turned away from him, giving most of the acknowledgement to this prodigal son Thomas who has done nothing for her. My mom has helped Thomas in the past years (she now knows better). Long years ago, she helped him get a vehicle. Thomas and my grandmother assured my mom that payments would be made on it - they basically didn't pay on it, lied about making payments that were never made, and said it was my mom's fault. They have no 'mercy' to other people at all...so I would ask anyone who talks about "showing them mercy" to consider that the Bible says that He who has no mercy will be shown no mercy. They almost caused my mom to lose our home years ago, and didn't care.

Thomas is in his 40's now and never grew up. He's in jail now. He was on probation, didn't pay the fee and got arrested. He is pending a hearing of some type. Thomas has pretty much done my whole family wrong at some point, along with every other person he could get something out of in life. He smokes, drinks and was apparently going with some 18 year old girl in another state. We found out that the father of that girl has a restraining order against him and told Thomas to stay away from his daughter. Lord, my family is a big mess. Even now, my grandmother is trying to "get him out of it." She has seen to it that he never got any type of punishment and everything is "okay" for him to do in her eyes, even if it is illegal or hurts other people. My mom is ready for my grandmother to go her own way. My grandmother doesn't have the resources to do so, but she means dead well that she is bound to join this son of hers in doing wrong all the way. She keeps wanting to accept collect calls from Thomas, who is calling from jail, of course.

We need prayer for a final end to this, hopefully that Thomas will go back to jail (he was in jail for years, previously...he didn't learn anything) and that it will be a jail located in a place where my grandmother can't go give her money to him (she doesn't even have a car). We're tired of the whole situation that has been going on for probably 20+ years, and it's time for an end. My whole family is sick of it. Lord, I pray for justice that this man will get what he deserves so that my family can be free from all of this nonsense that has ripped it apart for so many years now. I pray that Your will be done.
